Winter News Update-12/7/2007 So here it is part way through December and the ground is covered with snow. We have taken a couple of months off and tended to home life, but now its time to get ready for the 2008 racing season!!! There have been a lot of different things going on in the progression of of our race program. I have been talking to the owner of Radmall Racing and have been offered a deal to drive the #46 intermountain pro truck on the asphalt. At first I thought it would be a great opportunity to expand my racing experience, but after thinking about it and looking at the pros and cons of both deals, I've come to the conclusion that my efforts would be better off focusing on just the minisprint and trying to bring home the 2008 championship!!! We will still be running both cars, the #25 and the #23, out of the Scottie25.com stables. Both of our cars are being torn down, inspected, cleaned, freshened, and always looking for more power in the process. By the time the first race rolls around we will be ready to make a statement to the racing community. We are all very excited to see what the 2008 season will bring. Both cars will make plans to travel to numerous states in an attempt to prove that Utah racers are not all talk. We are also planning to have a few car and driver appearances at our sponsors locations for an up close and personal experience. We are happy to have some of last years sponsors joining us for 2008 as well as a few new partners coming on board. Thanks for checking in on the web to see the upcoming news. We are always working on more videos, and more pictures. I will try to keep updated pictures on this site and as always feel free to leave me a message on the pit chatter page. Until next time, TURN RIGHT TO GO LEFT!!!!
Scottie misses main, learns lesson from big boys Sept 28, Scottie makes main, battles ill handling car Sept 29 Walkin in a winter wonderland. Or what it felt like. We were one of the first cars to roll into the track in Price, UT on friday. By the time all the cars were in and registered a total of 34 had shown up. There were cars representing 6 different states from Caliifornia to New Mexico to New York. (yes, New York!!!!) It was shaping up to be a very tough field of cars, and when the track officials will only start 24, not everyone gets to race in the final feature. The car started out good. The track seemed to be perfect. By the time the heat races came the car had developed an engine problem. I know it seems like I say that in every letter, and yes it is getting old in a big hurry. I started the heat on the last row inside. I had passed a couple of cars but ran out of time and missed the transfer spot by 1. The top 3 cars in each heat transfer straight to the "a" main. The rest of the cars go to the "b" main and get 1 last chance to race into the "a" main. So off to the "b" main we went. I started on the front row, but didn’t stay there long. The engine problems came alive and I fought until the very end, and like the heat I came up short; 1 position away. That was the first race I had failed to make. But as my saying goes, the more you fail, the harder you try. I was not going to sit out and watch another race. I was up at 7:30 the next morning with the car on jack stands in the motel parking lot trying to find the problem I've had most of the year. Within an hour I had car parts laying everywhere and a bucket of bolts by my side. We found a couple of loose electrical connections and a bad toggle switch. By noon we were ready to see if we had fixed the problem. The weather was turning bad and cold in a hurry, and by race time it was 45 deg. I finally got a good pill draw and started on the front row for the heat race. The motor ran like richard simmons with 2 cups of morning mocha. I put up a good fight and finished third. The car was a little loose, but it was a lot because the track went slick. I didn’t care, I had ran good enough to transfer to the "a" main. By the time our main event started it was 36 deg. We had made a couple of changes to car and, in hind sight, we should'nt have. I started on the front row again and with in a few laps the car developed a severe "push". It would not turn no matter what I tried. I went from first to last in 8 or 10 laps. It got bad enough that when I was coming out of turn two I ran out of race track and over side I went. Backwards. The race was red flagged soon after for a wreck. When the race restarted the push wasn’t too bad but the car was still slow compared to the front runners. I wasn’t proud of the finish but was very happy that we finally got the engine to run like it should. So now its time to winterize the car, take care of all the stuff that got put on the back burner because of race season, and start to get ready for next year. I need to thank everybody that has helped me in one form or another this year!!!! It was a roller coaster, but we got a lot of things figured out so next year will be better!!! I will continue to write these updates to keep you all informed about the winter progress. Untill next time, "Turn Right To Go Left!!" Scottie takes a backwards stroll in the desert- 9/15/07 It was a long time since our last race. It almost felt as if we were in the off season. This "go round" we were near blackfoot, Id. It was a pretty good track, if you like the deserted village, middle of no where, kind of place. I finally drew a good starting position, 2nd. That meant that I started outside the front row for the heat race. When the green came out the two of us on the front took off and put on a really good show. It was about five laps of side by side racing, and then I went into turn one and hit a really big hole. The bounce of the car caused the wing to come out of its back mounts without me knowing it. I then went into the next turn, and with no wing down force, spun the car around and, close to full speed went off the track backwards. It was about a five foot drop off. Luckily the car didn't go air born and we were able to fix the wing and continue. I restarted in the back of the field and was able to pass a few cars by the time the race ended. With the bad heat race finish, and the invert, I again started on the front row for the main. I was able to lead a lap and battled for first for about four laps. Then the motor started to run bad, the track got really dry slick, and I went backwards as the rest of the field came by. I almost spun out coming out of turn four, but was able to save it. I think I wound up finishing 7th. Not too bad, but could have, should have, been better than that.
Scottie wins heat race thriller, spins in the main - 7/28/07 Scott Hardman came from the back row to compete in a 3 car dual lap after lap taking the lead just before the end of the race on an impressive sliding pass from 3rd to first in the same move. He was set to contend for the main event and was working his way towards the front when he spun around. Unfortunately he did not get a yellow. He managed to keep from getting lapped at that point, but later did. He is looking forward to seeing Vernal. Scottie wins his first main event! - 7/6/07 Scott Hardman took his first main event win for the year. He started from the outside of the 2nd row and was in the lead by turn 2 and never looked back. He finished the race leading by a full 1/2 lap and had lapped several in the field. It was a welcome relief after many tough breaks in the year have prevented him from finishing several races.
